Why did the Americans want independence from Britain?

Americans were being opressed by the British! They wouldn't let the Americans vote!

  1. Well, from what Jill and I researched the Americans wanted independence from Britain because the colonist started rasing taxes! Did you know that the average British person had a tax bill fifty times greater than an average American? The colonist thought that it wasn't fair that the British were paying fifty times more for taxes than Americans, so the colonist from British started to protest. They Americans didn't like it! Thats why the Americans wanted INDEPENDENCE from Britain.

  6. Before the 1707 Acts of Union which created the Kingdom of Great Britain began in the late 16th century and reached it's peak when colonies had been established throughout the Americas. The British were one of the most important colonizers of the Americas, and their American empire came to rival the Spanish American colonies in military.
